Polynesian Tattoos

Polynesian tattoos are an ancient art that has been receiving a lot of attention in modern times. Though few of us who are not from the Polynesian islands would be willing to undergo the painful and lengthy procedure that real Polynesian tattoos necessitate, we might well be attracted to elements of the traditional tribal designs and wish to incorporate them into our own tattoos – using modern methods (most of us anyway).

Do you want a temporary tattoo or a permanent tattoo? Would you like a Polynesian tribal design, or a Samoan tribal tattoo? Where will you be placing your tattoo? Lower back tattoo designs differ greatly from Polynesian sleeve designs. It is important to know the location of your future tattoo, and to have some ideas in mind before you start looking around.

Most tattoo parlors offer what is known as a flash tattoo. This is often a mass-produced tattoo; a design that the tattoo parlor uses to cut cost relating to artwork and labor. This is a great choice if you want to save money and are looking for a popular tattoo design, such as: crosses, trees, dragons, or even just a feminine tattoo design.
Finally, it is important to realize that most Polynesian tattoo artists will not work with flash tattoo art. They will choose the tattoo that means what you want to say, or that they feel is correct for you and your situation. Many tattoo artists won’t give you a flash tattoo because each tattoo must be unique for the individual.
